Watching the River Flow

posted Saturday, 14 June 2008

It finally stopped raining. So, I took a stroll down to the river. It was full of water! Overfull, to be precise. Fortunately, I didn't need to use the local lavatorial facilities.

Flooded Toilets

The river wasn't the only thing full of water. Many shops and houses are inundated.

As is usual with situations like this, the army has been called in to help with evacuations and with the mop up when the floods eventually recede. There were soldiers everywhere, hanging around doing nothing much except waiting and counting shovels.

I leave you with a couple more pictures of Liuzhou's new traffic system. And yes, they are still building that underground shopping mall yards from where I took these pictures. Idiots.
