Taxi Tantrum

The locals are amusing themselves again. It doesn't take much to attract a crowd round here. People stop and gawp at anything slightly unusual. This one got a bit out of hand, though.
Some chap arrived at the bus station from out of town and decided to get a taxi to his final destination. Outside the bus station is a taxi rank. There were a couple of people standing beside the first taxi and the man thought that they were taking it, so he went to the second. By the time he got settled in taxi 2, the people by the first taxi had walked away. The driver of the second taxi explained that the regulations do not allow taxis to take passengers out of turn and this meant that he could not take the passenger and he should go back to taxi No. 1
When he did so, the driver of the first taxi berated him for having walked past him in the first place, thereby making him 'lose' face'. After some argument, the taxi finally pulled away towards the passenger’s destination with the taxi driver still complaining and shouting at the passenger. After a short distance, the taxi driver completely lost the plot and demanded that the passenger get out. An argument ensued. A crowd gathered to watch and listen.
After half an hour, the police turned up and took the driver and passenger off to the police station. My local rag does not say what happened next. They were probably sent to bed without any supper.
