One of Liuzhou Prefecture’s main crops is sugar cane. In fact we are in the centre of one of the world’s largest sugar cane producing areas. You can buy sticks of it everywhere – a poor man’s candy. Can’t stand the stuff myself.

I am informed that a large Liuzhou building supplies market was burned down yesterday (Tuesday) morning. Around 600 square metres of the market was destroyed and it took 16 fire engines and crews two hours to bring the fire under control.
