At the weekend, my neighbour decided to install a new front door. This involved drilling into masonry and generally banging, shrieking and whining all day. So I went out.
Among the many pleasurable activities to be found on a sunny Sunday was a visit to Liuzhou Museum to take in a special exhibition of photographs from the local newspaper. The paper is celebrating its 5th birthday and was showcasing some of the best photo-journalism they had to offer. Some was very good indeed.
I was glad to spot that they had included some of my favourite themes. Motorcycle menaces and people down holes. I have often documented the Liuzhou’s populace’s habit of falling down holes. However, this chap didn’t fall down. He was a murderer on the run and thought popping down a hole might save his skin. Wrong.

Anyway, later that evening, I was thinking that I haven’t seen a ‘person down hole’ story in the local press for a while. I was worried that maybe they have given it up. So, I was cheered up this morning to find that some young chap has decided to keep up the city tradition and fall down a hole. Good on ‘im!
