It looks like I am about to make a lucky escape. In my last post, I mentioned that I am going to the UK for a couple of weeks. I had just posted that and sat down to peruse the daily newspaper, where I found that the Liuzhou citizenry are about to hold a series of amateur Chinese opera performances.Note that I said amateur. Professional is bad enough!
So, I am delighted that I will be on the other side of the planet far away from the hideous cacophony. I’ll admit that the masks are great and the costumes not bad, but the howling and squealing leaves something to be desired!
In fact, the only thing I can think of that sounds worse are bagpipes. But they were designed as a weapon!
