New Year' Eve Dinner - 6th February 2008
Turtle Soup
This is beef with loads of chillies which suggests Sichuan, but it was also heavy on the cumin powder which suggests Xinjiang. Who cares? It was delicious!
Sweet and Sour Fish. Sorry, the crowd attacked it before I could take the picture.
Crab. Again, some greedy people ate half before I could take the picture!
Roast Pork - Simple but good!
One of many dipping sauces.
This was tofu and mushroom cakes. I think. It had the texture of tofu but a strong mushroom taste. The sauce was a bit sweet for my liking, but still nice.
Roast Duck. Liuzhou Roast Duck as opposed to Beijing.
Jiaozi - similar to ravioli. Traditional New Year Food
This was a new one for me. Cups of cabbage which you fill with the diced vegetables and roll up like a Beijing duck roll. Very nice.
Spicy Squid! Yum!
When these arrived I was told they were stuffed with salted eggs. So, when I bit in I was surprised to find that, in fact, they were full of sweet bean paste.
