A few weeks ago, I received a very polite email from someone in Switzerland who had stumbled across this entry on my blog. She asked for permission to use my picture of a rice field in some of her publicity material. Instead of charging my usual astronomical fee (one beer), I said OK, but please show me what you do with it.
I thought that was the end of that, but this evening I received another email and a link to the website concerned. Now I feel like a real photographer!

Why on EARTH would the Great Firewall block the web page of the
"Zürich-Basel Plant Science Center?" Well...indeed, it has. Good grief.

It's not blocked. Never has been. Just because you sometimes can't reach a
site, doesn't mean it's blocked. Even China Daily is sometimes 'blocked' by
those standards.

Look, mate...I couldn't access the site one day and the next I could. I
qualify that as SOME kind of "block." Could be my American English
perhaps...
