As I've mentioned before, we have had a bit of rain recently. So much so that 13 people in Guangxi have died and one is still missing. Thousands of houses have been damaged (if not destroyed). Xinhua, the Chinese news agency, has reported that the rains destroyed 29 reservoirs and 162 roads and forced 59 factories to suspend production.
Most of the damage is in the countryside where landslides are common and rivers are not protected by embankments.
As the BBC said "Although towns and cities are normally protected by dykes, smaller farming communities and mountain towns are particularly vulnerable to the sudden rise in water levels."
Still, it's a miracle these kids in central Liuzhou weren't swept away.
