Just a few days ago, the local papers were boasting about the 'ten thousand' egrets 'dancing' on the river running through Liuzhou. THe birds were here, they claimed, as proof of the wisdom and leadership of the local Communist Party in improving the city's air and water quality.
This all backfired somewhat, when they announced today that 'a number' of the birds have been found dead. No reason has been given as yet, but there is plenty of speculation.
When we finally find out, we can be sure that somehow they will twist the story to ensure that we ending up praising the wisdom and leadership of the local Party again!
These guys can't lose.
