Monday, 5 May 2008 1:55 P GMT+08
Liuzhou's bus stops are a thing of great joy. They all have names. Usually, they are named after local landmarks such as schools, factories, markets, hotels, hospitals etc.

Clean Cut Kid

Thursday, 24 April 2008 1:20 P GMT+08
A smile was sent to face today as I stepped out for my daily constitutional. I was headed in the direction of the bread shop, then the market. Oh! And I had to buy a new fish slice. The handle broke on the last one. I lead such an interesting life.

Noodle Nonsense

Friday, 11 April 2008 1:31 P GMT+08
There I was eating my Chicken Giblets Fried Noodles when I got to thinking about the noodle chopstick problem.

Saturday, 5 April 2008 10:01 A GMT+08
Yesterday, was Qing Ming Festival. Qing Ming literally means ?Clear and Bright?. It is also known as ?Tomb Sweeping Day? and is when people traditionally visit their ancestors? graves and give them a bit of a tidy up.

Have I ever mentioned the utter idiocy which Liuzhou displays in allowing untrained, unlicenced, uninsured, unbrained idiots to charge up and down the roads, sidewalks, pavements, squares etc. on silent killing machines? Possibly, in passing.

Well again.

Tuesday, 25 March 2008 8:28 A GMT+08
I’m delighted to report that, after a long break, the people of Liuzhou have taken to falling down holes again. At the weekend, this 50 year old man kept up the tradition by falling into a well and having to be rescued.

70s Commune Bar Culture Study Centre

Sunday, 2 March 2008 4:16 P GMT+08
I?ve never been one for Liuzhou?s bars. Most of them are overpriced hell holes playing loud dance music and selling bad drinks to drunken 15 year olds. Or drunken 30 year olds acting like drunken 15 year olds. So, last night, when I was invited out f

Trapped Again

Sunday, 2 March 2008 11:38 A GMT+08
The locals have a new hobby to replace falling down holes and getting rings stuck on your fingers. The young lady who became trapped in her motorcycle seems to have started a trend.

Taxi Tantrum

Friday, 29 February 2008 3:23 P GMT+08
The locals are amusing themselves again. It doesn't take much to attract a crowd round here. People stop and gawp at anything slightly unusual. This one got a bit out of hand, though.

Trapped

Thursday, 28 February 2008 2:50 P GMT+08
A strange little story from Liuzhou.

Saved

Thursday, 28 February 2008 2:15 P GMT+08
Liuzhou?s Government are at it again. On their website they are ranting on about how beautiful the city is under their care and about how ecologically aware they are and how they are ?saving energy?.

Street Murderers

Thursday, 28 February 2008 11:27 A GMT+08
I may have mentioned these horrible machines before. According to the local authorities there are 150,000 of the ?street murderers? in Liuzhou and the number is increasing.

Cabbage Tolls

Sunday, 24 February 2008 12:18 A GMT+08
It is impossible to travel by road in China without running into one of these every few miles.

Seeing the Light

Friday, 22 February 2008 11:00 A GMT+08
Last night was the Lantern Festival which is held on the 15th day of the first month of the lunar calendar and which marks the end of the Spring Festival. I took myself off out in the evening.

Random Photograph No. 8 Eighth in a series of pictures, taken in Liuzhou, which amuse me. A brave volunteer offers to clean my kitchen!

Stoned Pigs

Monday, 11 February 2008 11:10 A GMT+08
Here is a nice picture from the local rag showing the good people of Liuzhou lining up to purchase their pork in the local market. Why do they have this photo? An article about the rising price of pork?
