I couldn't make this up! Over the years, I have often mentioned the amazing regularity with which Liuzhou people like to fall down holes. Most of them end up being taken to hospital. Now the hospital has decided to fall down a hole, too.
I’m delighted to report that, after a long break, the people of Liuzhou have taken to falling down holes again. At the weekend, this 50 year old man kept up the tradition by falling into a well and having to be rescued.
The locals have a new hobby to replace falling down holes and getting rings stuck on your fingers. The young lady who became trapped in her motorcycle seems to have started a trend.
At the weekend, my neighbour decided to install a new front door. This involved drilling into masonry and generally banging, shrieking and whining all day. So I went out.
I don't want to go on about this, but I hope the nutters who decided to build Liuzhou's underground shopping mall in the town centre have read this article. It gives examples of bits of China which have developed holes where there shouldn't be holes
I'm delighted to discover that Liuzhou is spending its money wisely. I live just off one of the major thoroughfares of the city and, over the last few months, the locals have been digging up the road and then remaking it.
