Migrant Deaths

posted Friday, 28 March 2008
More information is coming to light about the traffic accident yesterday in which ten people died. All the dead and injured were passengers in the van which collided head on with a coach. No one on the bus was injured.

The van, which is permitted to carry a maximum of five people, was carrying twelve. Six men and four women died. The two survivors, both male, were seriously injured.

The van was travelling from Guizhou province towards Guangdong carrying a batch of migrant job seekers. It seems the driver, who was among the dead, had charged the passengers and was, in effect, running an illegal transport operation.
