Liuzhou Flood Deaths

posted Wednesday, 13 June 2007

TrappedThe continuing rains and flooding have affected 140,500 Liuzhou people and lead  to two deaths. 8410.5 hectares of agricultural crops have been lost. 131 houses have collapsed and 7,803 damaged.  Total economic losses to date are estimated at 19.175 million Yuan (Approx £1.25 million, $2.5 million).

And it looks likely to continue. Early this morning, the authorities issed a "red alert weather warning" forecasting more heavy rain. It isn't raining at the moment, but they are usually fairly accurate in their forecasting.

Where did I leave my umbrella?

And canoe.
