Not content with covering everything in the city centre with flashing neon lights, the powers that be have decided to also cover the new area they have built for themselves in the east of the city. This is the area where they were heavily criticised for building themselves luxurious villas.
By the river they have stuck up eight large (5.7 by 4.2 metres) neon characters reading:

which literally translates as: "One Hundred Li Liujiang One Hundred Li Picture Gallery*".
Just what we need.
Oh, by the way, there are still daily powercuts as the city struggles to meet demand while wasting what they have on this excrement.

*Li is a Chinese measure of length equal to 0.5 kilometre. Liujang is the name of the river. 100 Li can be taken literally or just to mean very long.
