Only minutes after informing you that I had been mistaken in my duck acquisition techniques, I stumble across the awful truth that I’ve also been catching my fish incorrectly, too!My habit is to go to the market, point at a suitable looking specimen, allow the vendor to smack the critter over the head with his mallet then scale and gut the thing (or whatever it is one does to make the piscine edible), pay up and go home.
Wrong!
Clearly, the correct way is to leap into a rice paddy and grab the things with your bare hands.
Well, yet again I am mistaken.
What we have here is a fish catching competition put on by the good people of Liuzhou’s Sanjiang county, to amuse the locals during the National Day holiday!
Sanjiang is predominantly the home of the Dong people.
