It is a busy time for Liuzhou lampposts. All weekend, lamppost decorators have been roaming the streets sticking signs on lampposts.
Liuzhou is to host two events in the next few weeks: The 2008 F1 Powerboat Grand Prix and the 5th Liuzhou International Fantastic Stone Festival.
As far as I can make out from the press, the F1 event consists of a lot of young women removing most of their clothes. In the interests of historical accuracy I reprint a couple of examples.

Both events are sponsored by SGMW, the local rust bucket manufacturing joint venture which General Motors likes to pretend is all their idea (actually, they are a minority shareholder).
The powerboat racing website provides a map which tells you virtually nothing and which I even suspected was upside down. The usual place for VIPs etc to watch river events is on the south side, but they are busily building new facilities on the north side of the river.
The Stone Festival (not Rock Festival) seems to lack half naked women (I have searched high and low), but does have naked stones. It will be the same as the previous festivals which I have mentioned here and here.
The F1 event is on the 11th and 12th of October and the Stone Festival runs from the 11th to 17th of October (though the main events will be in the first two days.
OK. One more!

I am sure you understand now why I was so keen on getting my press
credentials.
...where did you get that photo of my Missus.....
; )
In the way of an update, I was there all day today and didn't see even one
young woman in anything that resembled a bikini. Maybe tomorrow. I am
praying about it.
Sorry. Forgot to tell you. I invited them all round my place today.
