Here is yet another reminder of how much the countryside and agriculture is still dominant in China (it is estimated that around 70% of the population work on the land) and how near the countryside is. It is easy to forget in downtown Liuzhou.
This morning a couple of local farmers paid ¥3000, a lot of money, for a Long-haired Yunnan bull. Unfortunately, on the way home the beast escaped and got a bit enraged. As bulls do.
The local cops chased the thing for three hours but it refused to stop, so they shot it with 10 rounds from handguns. This did nothing to improve its temper and, despite its wounds, it ran on for about 3 kilometres (in the old airport area) until it was finally cornered but they still had to shoot it ten more times with assualt rifles before it died.
There is no word about the farmers or their mood.
